Street Supremacy Exposed: The Oppression of Vert Skaters in Czechia

A short analysis into the troubling world of Czech skatepark reality and the far-grind movement

Breaking the Street Ceiling: The Marginalization of Vert Skaters in Czech Skate Culture

Vert skaters in Czechia are getting systematically screwed!

Every new skatepark is built to push the dominant street skating agenda: flat tricks, stairs, rails, and scooter priority. Look at the last three newly built skateparks: all of them completely ignored vert, opting instead for more street-focused features and scooter-friendly layouts. This isn't neutral planning. It's active discrimination.

Even in the so-called bowls and transitions, there's no real vert being built. Builders water it down with pathetic 20 cm shallow crap instead of proper 2½ ft+ vert walls, while street skaters brag about "deep" bowls that are measly 2 meters at best—not the proper 3 meters+ needed for real flow and progression. The result? Kids are being turned into pussies who never learn to drop in, pump, or throw airs. This soft infrastructure stunts the entire next generation.

And don't get it twisted with token events like the Mystic Skate Cup. They slap up a vert ramp for the contest weekend, pat themselves on the back for "inclusivity," then tear it down immediately after—leaving it unskateable for the rest of the year. Temporary crumbs while street rules the permanent landscape.

With only three vert ramps in the whole country, vert skaters get zero real support, no funding, and basically no coverage. This is structural exclusion dressed up as progress.

Defund the street supremacy. Demand real vert equity in every park. The gatekeeping stops now!
